Coming to Sifnos...
The access to the island of Sifnos has become very easy the last years, depending of course on the season which you will select to come. The high speed car-ferries in the line of Western Cyclades has decreased dramatically the 
time of travel. Therefore if you select it, you will cover the distance of 80 miles that separates the port of Piraeus from Sifnos in almost 3,5 hours. Note however that the choice of the high speed car-ferries is limited in the period March-November. All year, and basically in winter, the conventional boats raise the main weight of transportation of passengers, vehicles and goods from and to Sifnos.
In summer, the freque
ncy of the departures and arrivals to Sifnos is quite satisfactory with 3 -4 arrivals at the high period. Note that the summertime Sifnos is connected to other islands of Cyclades by conventional boats.
In this way Sifnos can be used as a base for short trips to Serifos, Kythnos, Kimolos, Milos, Foleegandros, Ios, Sikinos, Santorini, Paros and other islands of Cyclades. There is also the option to
travel by plane from Eleftherios Venizelos airport to the nearest airport of Milos. From there you can reach Sifnos in 30 ' with high-speed boat or in 1,5 hour with the conventional boat. Alternative, there are also the airport of Paros, Syros, Mykon
os and Santorini. The only thing you have to do is to be informed about the flights and the coastal connections between the islands.
