The graphic village Ano Petali is located between Apollonia and Artemonas. Looking from Apollonia to the East, a grandiose temple is erected in the top of a small hill and around it a small settlement is built. It is the temple of Zoodochos Pigi and the small graphic settlement Kato Petali. Away from the noisy streets of Apollonia, Kato Petali is a small oasis of quietness and calmness in the center of Sifnos. The architecture of the settlement is the traditional Cycladic with whitewashed benches, white houses and many small traditional alleys made of stone. Not far away from the village you should visit the church of Virgin Mary of Koukkia and the historical monastery of Saint Ioannis Chrisostomos with characteristic an old palm in its courtyard. The history of the island reports that the first school of Sifnos operated inside this monastery!
