Faros owes his name to the lighthouse, which is until today installed in the right side of the bay. Historical it is worth saying that the current small port, constituted until 1883 the mainly port of Sifnos for the communication and commercial needs of island.

Visit the unique monastery of Cross with the famous festival on 13 November. From there you will admire the splendid view to the monastery of Crissopigi and the infinite blue of the Aegean sea. It is also worth walking in the beautiful path that leads from the Glyfo beach to the Apokofto beach and finally to the monastery of Crissopigi. In your way you will see ruins from the old installation of loading the metal from the mine in boats in order to transfer it in Lavrio.
